EDM Small hole drilling is the production process for the forming of holes in hardened and exotic materials such as Inconel and Carbide. EDM drills bore holes with a long brass or copper tube electrode that rotates in a chuck with a constant flow of deionised water flowing through the electrode as a flushing agent and dielectric.
Drilling can be between 0.5mm and 4mm in diameter and up to a maximum depth of 400mm.

FutureAM uses Renishaw Modus on a modern 3 Metre, DEA GLOBAL® 12-30-10 CNC Co-ordinate Measuring Machine by direct reference to CAD data. The system is equipped with a Revo II Scanning head enabling full surface scanning as well as point Data. FutureAM produces inspection data to an overall accuracy of 0.004mm within the large envelope of 3000 x 1200 x 1100mm.
FutureAM uses Renishaw MODUS™ inspection software via a Renishaw REVO™ 5 Axis scanning head on a 2.5 Metre CNC Co-ordinate Measuring Machine to inspect by direct reference to original CAD data. The scanning system software employs a seat of CatiaV5 for direct reference to original model, eliminating the need for data translation. MODUS™ can also accept model data in other formats.

FutureAM uses QCT 3D Inspect-Pro software in conjunction with a Faro Quantum Arm which is equipped with both Touch probing and seven-axis Laser Scanning head. This provides an 1800mm working volume and offers accuracy comparable to fixed CMMs. QCT 3D Inspect software is fully programmable for repetitive measurement, and performs first-article inspection efficiently.
