Initial Brief from Client:Collaboration is key when working with clients on an R&D project.  We work with you from the very start of a project, ensuring we understand the brief completely. Everyone involved, from design engineers to CNC programmers and the project management team sit down together to evaluate the design idea, define your needs and agree core requirements.

Define & Develop the Design: Our design team works with your own application engineers ensuring the design, materials and production techniques meet your production, budget and performance needs. 

We work from raw data or CAD models and develop the design using 3D modelling.  From the very start we make sure you’re kept informed with weekly updates until final commissioning and signing off for production.

CNC Programming  – Programmes are compiled by a team of highly skilled manufacturing engineers using the latest CNC programme software.  The code is uploaded onto state of the art CNC machines to produce pin point accuracy, consistency and quality, even on the most complex concept models or parts.

Prototyping: Future AM has developed a suite of rapid prototyping manufacturing solutions that give greater control over tolerance and shape than standard prototyping.   These CAD-to-Product solutions have earned us a reputation in industries where parts are prone to distortion. That’s why the world’s largest aerospace organisations come to us to create fully functional prototypes for projects such as wind tunnel models for aerodynamic testing. 

Project Management:Project Management plays a pivotal role during the R&D design, prototype and production process. Our PM team is responsible for delivering the most efficient use of materials and manufacturing techniques, to ensure greater, more cost efficient productivity but without comprising on quality and safety. 

Inspection and Testing: We use advanced inspection techniques on latest metrology equipment such as Renishaw Modus and REVO II scanning systems with five axis simultaneous scanning capability to inspect components up to 3 Metres in length. 

But it’s our advanced skills in the design and manufacture of Aerodynamic Models for wind tunnel testing that have earned us an international reputation. In association with wind tunnels both in the UK and Internationally, we manufacture models for Low speed, High Speed and Cryogenic testing, the latter requiring manufacture in maraging steels to tolerances on air-swept surfaces of within 0.025mm.
