Firm celebrates £1m oil contract

A county company is celebrating after winning a £1.2 million order to supply oil field equipment to a US company.

Future Advanced Manufacture (Future AM) based at Bamfurlong Industrial Park provides a comprehensive design, development and manufacturing service.

Its customers are companies who specialise in precision equipment where performance and safety are critical.

Future AM, which employs 50 people and has a turnover of about £4.5 million, is involved in a variety of projects ranging from submarines to aerospace wind tunnel models and satellites.

The company's managing director Craig Peterson, who bought the company two years ago at the age of 32, said Future AM had some of the world's most advanced skills for producing aerodynamic models.

The US oil field equipment contract had been won on the basis of previous performance and quality. In addition, the company had won a major order to supply a new American aerospace company with complex titanium blades for a new method of aircraft propulsion currently in development.

To cope with the increased demand, the company has invested heavily in a new machining cell and introduced additional manning hours and personnel. He said reinvestment in new plant has been financed by Clydesdale Bank which was keen to build a strong long-term relationship with Future AM.

In December, the company achieved certification to the stringent Aerospace standard AS9100 with an initial assessment score of 91%. This opens significant doors within the aerospace market sector.
